ATHENS, Georgia -
Led by Payne McLeod and Ryan Nagy, both at one-under, UNCW finished the opening
round of the Athens Regional of the NCAA Men's Golf Championships tied with
Houston for fifth-place at two-under-par.
Fourth-ranked Alabama leads the regional field after carding
a 15-under-par in the opening round. Tenth-ranked North Florida is second, just
two strokes behind the Crimson Tide.
UNF's Kevin Aylwin holds the medalist lead with a
six-under-par 65 in the opening round.
McLeod and Nagy are tied for 17th overall while Thomas Bass
and Patrick Sawrey are tied for 26th, both finished with a one-under-par 71.
Rounding out the Seahawks lineup was Stefan Brewer with an
opening round 80.
