WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The UNCW women's basketball team will make its second straight appearance in the Postseason WNIT Thursday as it hosts in-state rival Appalachian State in a first-round contest at Trask Coliseum.

Tip-off for the contest between the Seahawks and Mountaineers is set for 7 p.m. General admission tickets are on sale at the UNCW Ticket Office at a cost of $6 for adults and $4 for students.

The Seahawks (20-12) return to action after suffering a 66-39 setback at the hands of nationally-ranked Delaware in the semifinals of the 2012 Virginia 529 College Savings Plan CAA Women's Basketball Championship on March 10.

Junior Tawanna Lee scored 13 points and sophomore Alisha Andrews added 11 for UNCW, which was limited to just 25.0 percent (15-of-60) shooting while the Blue Hens were 28-of-54 (51.9) from the field. Delaware also held a commanding 46-30 advantage on the glass as the Seahawks had just one player, junior Karneshia Garrett, finish with more than five rebounds.

Andrews, a Second-Team All-CAA and CAA All-Defensive Team selection, enters postseason play as UNCW's leader in scoring (12.2), assists (4.7) and steals (2.6). Classmate Abria Trice ranks second on the team in scoring (10.2) after earning All-Tournament Team Accolades at the CAA Championship following a three-game performance that saw her score 52 points and shoot 44 percent (19-of-43) from the floor, 55 percent (6-of-11) from three-point range and 73 percent (8-of-11) from the free-throw line. Garrett remains the team's best rebounder, averaging 7.5 caroms per contest to rank eighth in the league in that category.

Appalachian State (25-6) makes its way across the Tar Heel state for its second straight appearance in the Postseason WNIT after falling to Samford in the Southern Conference Championship on March 5.

SoCon Player-of-the-Year Anna Freeman paces the league in scoring (15.1), steals (3.7) and free-throw percentage (.881) and was second on the circuit in blocks (2.0). Freeman ranks sixth in the nation in steals, highlighting a Mountaineers lineup that finds itself listed second among all Division I teams in that category (13.3).

Fellow junior Courtney Freeman earned Second-Team All-SoCon honors after finishing second on the team in scoring (10.1) and third in rebounding (5.4). Freshman Marayn Snyder enjoyed a solid rookie season, averaging 9.8 points and 4.9 rebounds to earn Rookie-of-the-Year accolades from the league.  

UNCW and Appalachian State are meeting for the sixth time in series history and the first time since the 1994-95 campaign on Thursday. The Mountaineers hold a 4-1 edge in the all-time series and have won each of the last four meetings, including a 78-41 triumph in their last matchup on Dec. 10, 1994 in Boone.

The winner of Thursday's game will face the winner of the game between High Point and NC State in the second round. The date, location and time of that matchup will be announced at the conclusion of Thursday's contest.
