WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - UNCW head men's soccer coach Aidan Heaney has announced the
addition of Zach Haines to his coaching staff for the 2012-13 season.
"I
am delighted that Zach has joined our staff as an assistant coach'" said
Heaney. "He is a
young, energetic coach who will be a big help to the program, both on and off
the field. I know our players will benefit from his experiences and he will
learn a lot about the college game as he pursues his career in college
coaching."
Haines comes to the Seahawks from the Triangle Futbol Club,
where he served as the Assistant Director of Youth Development. While with TFC,
Haines coached the TFC U20 men's team to consecutive USL South Atlantic Division
titles in 2010 and 2011 and a national championship final four appearance.
Prior to working with TFC, Haines was the head coach at East
Chapel Hill High School for two seasons. During that tenure, he guided the
program to a 30-13-1 record at the 4A level and was ranked 13th in the state in
2010.
Haines played at UNC before injuries shortened his career in
2006. But he returned in 2009 as a volunteer where he audited
training sessions and worked with game day operations.
"I
am extremely excited about the opportunity to work at UNCW. It is a wonderful
university with much to offer. Coach Heaney and Coach Bundy are outstanding
coaches and people. They have brought so much success to the soccer program,
and I am looking forward to helping them continue the tradition."
