WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - UNCW won 10 events in the women's meet and C.J. Fiala and
Michael Baric each won two events as the Seahawks swept visiting Wingate by
scores of 154-108 and 134-110 in the women and men's meets, respectively, on
Saturday at the Seahawk Natatorium.
UNCW improved its women's record to 9-6 while the men raised
their mark to 8-4.
Ten different Seahawks won events in the women's meet as
UNCW bolted out to an early lead by winning the first five events. Rachel Sears
opened the meet with a win in the 100 yard Backstroke and was followed by
Taylor Wilson's victory in the 100 Breaststroke.
UNCW completed a sweep of the 100 Backstroke when Nick Lowe
won on the men's side with a time of 52.21 seconds.
Fiala won the 100 Breaststroke and later the 50 Freestyle.
Baric, meanwhile, claimed first place in the 200 IM and 200 Backstroke.
The Seahawks close out their regular season next weekend
with a split squad effort. The women's team will host Campbell on Saturday,
while a select number of individuals compete at the Virginia Tech Invitational
on Friday and Saturday.
