GREENSBORO, North Carolina - UNCW shot a season-high 56.9 percent from the floor and had five players reach double figures as it cruised past North Carolina A&T, 90-63, in collegiate women's basketball action Monday at the Corbett Sports Center.

The Seahawks improved to 7-5 overall as they closed out non-conference play with their fifth victory in six games. The Aggies slipped to 6-8 on the season as they saw their losing streak extend to six straight.  

Junior Jessica Freeman scored a career-high 18 points and sophomore Alisha Andrews chipped in 15 points and a game-best 10 assists to power a UNCW lineup that finished 33-of-58 from the floor for the contest, including a sizzling 67.9 percent (19-of-28) from the field in the opening frame.

Junior Tawanna Lee chipped in 14 points and fellow junior Ayoola Weaver added 12 points and a game-high nine caroms as the Seahawks held a commanding 41-24 edge on the glass. Sophomore Abria Trice rounded out the quartet of double-figure scorers as she finished with 10 points to reach double figures for the third straight contest.  

Sophomore Tracy King poured in a game-high 24 points to lead a trio of double-figure scorers for N.C. A&T as sophomore Amber Calvin added 14 and junior JaQuayla Berry pitched in 11.

Tied at 14-all midway through the first half, a three-pointer and back-to-back layups by Lee sparked the Seahawks to a 12-2 spurt and a 26-16 cushion.

A three-pointer by Calvin and a layup by King ended the run and trimmed the UNCW edge to five, 26-21, before the Seahawks closed the frame on an 8-3 spurt to take a 44-32 lead into the locker room.

The Seahawks continued their strong play in the second half, opening the frame on a 9-3 run to expand their advantage to 53-35 before using a 19-4 spurt moments later to take its largest advantage of the afternoon, 73-44, with 9:43 to play.

A 10-2 A&T run ended UNCW's run and pulled the Aggies to within 21, 75-54. The Seahawks kept A&T from drawing any closer, however, as they closed out the contest on a 15-9 stretch to maintain a 20-point cushion the rest of the way.

GAME NOTES:

• The Seahawks improved to 14-9 all-time versus North Carolina A&T as it halted a two-game losing skid to the Aggies. The game was the first between the two schools since the 1995-96 season.
• UNCW finished the regular season with a 4-2 mark against in-state competition and improved to 8-3 under Cooper-Dyke versus North Carolina-based schools.
• The Seahawks reached the 90-point plateau for the first time since tallying 90 in a 90-88 overtime victory against Western Carolina on Jan. 3, 2008.
• The 90 points also marked the most points scored by the Seahawks on the road since the start of the 2000-01 season, surpassing the previous high 87, set in a neutral-site contest against Eastern Kentucky (12-16-00) and at Coastal Carolina (12-20-02).
• The Seahawks had five players reach double figures in the same game for the first time this season and the first time since their 64-53 victory over Richmond in the first round of the Postseason WNIT on March 17, 2011.
• UNCW improved to 4-0 this season, 17-1 under Cooper-Dyke and 63-7 since the start of the 2000-01 season when scoring more than 70 points in a contest.
• UNCW shot above 50 percent from the floor for the second time this season as it was 29-of-57 (.509) against Charleston Southern on Dec. 16.
• The Seahawks improved to 5-1 this season and 23-4 under Cooper-Dyke when shooting better than 40 percent from the floor.
• UNCW dished out a season-high 25 assists as it surpassed the 20-assist plateau for the first time since dishing out 20 assists against Georgia State on Feb. 17, 2011. The Seahawks have recorded double-figure assists in all 12 games this season and 14 games dating to the end of last season.
• The Seahawks posted double figure steals for the ninth time this season and the first time in three games as it finished with 11 thefts.
• UNCW posted a 42-30 edge in points in the paint, highlighted by a 20-12 advantage in the second half.
• The Seahawks out-rebounded an opponent for just the fourth time this season. The 17-rebound margin was the largest for the Seahawks against an opponent this season.
• UNCW finished with fewer than 20 turnovers for the sixth time this season as it was charged with 17 turnovers versus the Aggies.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES:

2 - Tawanna Lee

• Reached double figures in points for the seventh time this season and the seventh time in the past 10 games.
• Matched her career-high with seven rebounds. Set career high against Washington State on Nov. 13.

4 - Alisha Andrews

• Reached double figures in points for the second straight contest and the ninth time this season. Also reached double figures for the 28th time in her career.
• Posted double figure assists for the first time this season and the third time in her career.
• Recorded her first double-double of the season and second of her career. First came at Northeastern on Jan. 23, 2011.
• Paced team in assists for the eighth time this season and the 32nd time in her career.

10 - Abria Trice

• Reached double figures in points for the fourth time this season and the third straight contest.

13 - Jovana Mandic

• Established new career high with six points, eclipsing old mark of two set against NC State (Nov. 16) and matched versus East Carolina (Nov. 20).

24 - Jessica Freeman

• Reached double figures in points for the third time this season and the 14th time in her career.
• Established a new career-high in points with 18, breaking old previous best of 16, set against Drexel exactly one year ago (Jan. 2, 2011).
• Led team in scoring for the first time this season and the second time in her career.

32 - Ayoola Weaver

• Reached double figures in points for the fourth time this season and the second time in four games.
• Paced team in rebounds for the third time this season.
