WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - The UNCW women's soccer team opens Colonial Athletic Association
play this weekend with a pair of road contests against Delaware and Drexel.
The Seahawks start the weekend Friday with a 7 p.m. matchup
versus the Blue Hens before traveling to Philadelphia Sunday for a 1 p.m. matinee
with the Dragons.

UNCW makes its league debut with a 2-6 overall mark after
suffering identical 1-0 setbacks to North Florida and Western Carolina in the
Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire Invitational last weekend at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.
Despite averaging more than 11 shot attempts per contest,
the Seahawks struggled to find the back of the net during non-conference play,
scoring just five times in their eight non-league matchups.
Junior Amanda Holmes continues to lead the team in scoring
with three points (1 G, 1 A) while four players are tied for second with two
points apiece. In goal, junior Caitlin Hunter has started all eight games for
UNCW and has fashioned a 1.25 goals against average to go along with a .811
save percentage and one shutout.
Delaware begins league play with a 4-3-1 record after a pair
of one-goal victories over Army and Delaware State last weekend. Senior Amy
Pickard paces the Blue Hens lineup with eight points (3 G, 2 A) while junior Melissa
Pennington (2 G, 1 A) and sophomore Chelsea Duffy (2 G, 1 A) compliment the attack
with five points apiece. Senior Breanna Stemler has started all eight games
between the pipes for Delaware and has posted a 1.05 goals against average and
.742 save percentage to go along with two shutouts.
Drexel opens conference play at 2-4-2 overall following road
shutout losses to Rider and Wagner last weekend. Senior Jenna Lindsay leads the
Dragons in scoring with seven points (3 G, 1 A) while three players are tied
for second with three points apiece. Sophomore Victoria Troccoli and freshman Eve
Badana have split time in goal for the Dragons in the early going, combining to
post a 1.30 goals against average, a .771 save percentage and one shutout.
UNCW remains on the road after its contests against Delaware
and Drexel as it wraps up its three-game road swing Sept. 29 with a 7 p.m. kickoff
at Old Dominion.
