WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Reigning Colonial Athletic Association men's golf champion UNCW has released its schedule for the 2011-12 season and it looks to be one of the most challenging in the history of the program.

"We're excited with the schedule we'll be playing during the 2011-12 year," said Colonial Athletic Association Coach-of-the-Year Matt Clark, who enters his fourth season with the program. "We have a great mix of events that will prepare us for the 2012 NCAA Championship. We will get to participate against some of the best teams in the country and we look forward to this challenge."

The Seahawks will play in a pair of events new to the schedule when they participate alongside the UNCW women's team at the Golf Week's Team Challenge (Sept. 11-13) in Murrell's Inlet, S.C.

UNCW was also invited to play in the Calloway National Match Play Championship (March 18-20) in Sarasota, Fla. The three-day event will be played at the Concession Golf Club, a track that holds one of the highest Course and Slope rating by the United States Golf Association.

UNCW will host a pair of tournaments beginning with the Seahawk Invitational (Feb. 26-27) at Landfall CC and will co-host along with East Carolina the River Landing Intercollegiate (April 6-7) in Wallace, N.C.

The Seahawks, who won four tournament titles in 2010-11, return to the VCU shootout (Sept. 26-27) where they enter the tournament as the two-time reigning champions. UNCW also defends its title at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate (Mar. 10-11).

Rounding out the schedule are appearances at the Rees Jones Intercollegiate (Oct. 3-4), Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate (Oct. 14-16), LSU Spring Invitational (Mar. 31-Apr. 1) and a dual match against Drexel (Apr. 25) prior to the CAA Championship tournament (Apr. 27-29) in Wilmington, Del. The dual match against Drexel will be the first for the Seahawks since topping Baltimore by 19 strokes on March 28, 1983.
