GREENVILLE, North
Carolina - Corey Thompson and Trent Whitehead had four hits apiece to lead
East Carolina to a 17-13 win over visiting UNCW at LeClair Stadium on Tuesday
in college baseball action.
The Pirates completed the season sweep of the Seahawks and
improved to 25-12 on the year. For UNCW, the loss snapped a six-game winning
streak and dropped their record to 21-15.
Austin Chrismon (1-0) picked up the win in relief. He
allowed just a run on three hits in 2 2/3 innings.
ECU built a 6-3 lead after three innings, but exploded for
11 runs over the middle three innings to take a 17-5 lead. Thompson's second
homer of the season with a man on in the fourth highlighted a five-run stanza.
Hunter Ridge recorded his first four-hit game of the season
to lead the Seahawks. Andrew Cain and Alex Hill both homered for the Seahawks,
who rallied with six runs in the seventh and two in the ninth to make it a
17-13 final.
UNCW starter Travis Bradley dropped to 0-3 after being
tagged for five runs, four earned, on six hits and a walk in two innings of
work.
The Seahawks host NC State on Wednesday. First-pitch is
slated for 6 p.m.
