RALEIGH, North Carolina - Hunter Ridge homered and drove in three runs and the Seahawk pitching staff limited NC State to a run on three hits as UNCW topped the Wolfpack, 9-1, in college baseball action on Wednesday at Doak Field.

UNCW moved to 18-14 with its third straight win. It was also the Seahawks' third straight victory over the Wolfpack. NCSU, meanwhile, dropped to 18-16 with its fourth consecutive loss.

Led by Ridge, UNCW outhit the Wolfpack, 12-3, with every starter collecting a hit. Thomas Pope and David Shambley had two hits apiece.

The Seahawks reached starter Danny Healey for four runs in the second to take a 5-0 lead. UNCW was able to take advantage of a NCSU error and RBI singles by Andrew Cain and Thomas Pope to break the game open.

Healey (1-4) lasted 4 2/3 innings and allowed six runs on eight hits.

UNCW's William Prince, the reigning CAA Co-Rookie-of-the-Week earned his first career save. Prince held the Wolfpack in check, striking out a career-high six in 3 1/3 hitless-innings.

NCSU had a chance to get back into the game in the sixth, loading the bases with two out, but Prince snuffed the rally with a strikeout, keeping the game at 7-1 Seahawks.

UNCW starter Travis Bradley turned in his second strong start in as many opportunities, but didn't figure in the decision. He tossed a career-best 4 2/3 innings and allowed just an unearned run on three hits.

The Seahawks return to Colonial Athletic Association this weekend, beginning on Friday with a 6 p.m. start against William & Mary.
