Seahawks Announce 2010-11 WBB Schedule

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Thirteen home appearances and non-conference matchups at Boston College and Ohio State highlight the 2010-11 UNCW women's basketball schedule, Head Coach Cynthia Cooper-Dyke announced on Tuesday.

The 2010-11 schedule features 29 contests for Cooper-Dyke's first team. The Seahawks will play 11 non-conference games before embarking on their 18-game Colonial Athletic Association schedule.

"We are excited about opportunities and challenges that our 2010-11 schedule represents," said Cooper-Dyke, who was named the ninth head coach in program history last May. "Our non-conference schedule has a good mix of both regional and national competition that will prepare us for what is always a difficult CAA slate."

The Seahawks have a home exhibition contest against UNC Pembroke (Nov. 10) before opening the regular season with road contests against in-state foes UNC Greensboro (Nov. 15) and East Carolina (Nov. 19). A meeting with High Point (Nov. 22) serves as the regular season home opener, while road contests at Wofford (Nov. 24) and Ohio State (Nov. 28) bring the first month of the season to a close.

December opens with a visit from state rival UNC Charlotte (Dec. 2) and continues with trips to longtime foes Campbell (Dec. 11) and Coastal Carolina (Dec. 15). Charleston Southern (Dec. 17) will be the opponent for the annual "Seahawks Tomorrow" day time matchup, while a trip to Boston College (Dec. 19) and a home matchup with Ohio (Dec. 29) round out the non-conference slate.

The Seahawks ring in the New Year and CAA play with a visit from Drexel (Jan. 2) and follow the meeting against the Dragons with a trip to VCU (Jan. 6) and a visit from Towson (Jan. 9). The Seahawks then tackle back-to-back road trips to George Mason (Jan. 13) and Hofstra (Jan. 16) before returning home to face Delaware (Jan. 20). A road trip to Northeastern (Jan. 23) is next before UNCW begins a three-game homestand that features matchups with Hofstra (Jan. 27), William & Mary (Jan. 30) and VCU (Feb. 3).

After its three-game home stand, UNCW hits the road for contests against Georgia State (Feb. 6), William & Mary (Feb. 10) and Old Dominion (Feb. 13). The Seahawks return home to face Georgia State (Feb. 17) and Northeastern (Feb. 20) before closing out February with a visit to Towson (Feb. 24) and a home matchup against George Mason (Feb. 27). UNCW closes out the regular season with a trip to defending CAA champion James Madison (March 2).

The 2011 Virginia 529 College Savings Plan CAA Women's Basketball Championship is scheduled for March 10-13 at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md.

All dates are subject to change. Final game times will be released in the coming weeks.
