Seahawk Summer Baseball Report

WILMINGTON, N.C. - As the summer season enters the stretch runs, UNCW baseball players continue to shine in their respective leagues.

Coastal Plain League

Hunter Ridge (Asheboro) - Ridge carried a hot streak into the second half of the season and pushed his average to a team-leading .322. In his last three games, he's 5-for-9 with four runs scored.

Brian Rhino (Asheboro) - A scoreless inning of relief against Thomasville lowered Rhino's ERA to 5.79..

Cameron Cockman (Asheboro) - Cockman's mid-season surge has lifted his average to .271 and he's stolen seven bases in eight attempts.

Ryan Leach (Wilmington) - Leach picked up his first win of the season to even his mark at 1-1. He fanned six and allowed three runs on five hits over six innings against Morehead City.

Blaze Tart (Wilmington) - Tart made a pair of appearances and took the loss in one of them. Tart has held opponents to a paltry .188 batting average.

Justin Bradley (Wilmington) - Bradley made his fifth start of the summer for the Sharks, but did not figure in the decision. Bradley went 5 2/3 innings against Florence, allowed four runs on three walks and four hits. Bradley fanned five to raise his total is 17 in 25 1/3 innings.

Alex Hill (Wilmington) - Hill continues his tremendous summer, hitting .375 bolstered by a six-hit, six-RBI evening against Florence. Hill leads the Sharks with two home runs and has stolen four bases.

KIT League (Kentucky-Illinois-Tennessee)

Michael Bass (Fulton) - After going 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a runs scored in the all-star game, Bass enters the second half of the season with a .364 batting average and 22 stolen bases.

Dakota Piver (Fulton) - Piver is hitting .169 with five extra base hits.

New England Collegiate Baseball League

Steven Davis (Vermont) - Davis made two appearances, both in relief, and was tagged with the loss in one after allowing the winning run, albeit unearned. Davis has finished six games and is one of three pitchers with a save.

Thomas Pope (Vermont) - Pope played in two games, going 1-for-6 with a walk, run scored and a stolen base. He's hitting .244.

Tyler DeLoach (North Adams) - DeLoach pitched in relief three times and allowed two hits in 2 2/3 innings. He's slated to start against the Canadian National team on Saturday.

Ryan Walker (Laconia) - Walker tossed a shutout inning of relief. His ERA stands at 2.53.

Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League

Jack Lane (Riverhead) - Lane struggled with his command in both of his outings, winning one and losing the other. Lane Walked 11 in 5 1/3 innings of relief. He owns a 1-3 mark with a 4.30 ERA in 23 innings this summer.

Thomas Jones (Riverhead) - Jones earned his first save of the summer with 2 1/3 innings of relief against Sag Harbor. He walked one and struck out one during his stint. Jones is 1-2 this summer.

Cal Ripken Collegiate League

Tom Timoney (Baltimore) - Timoney picked up his second save in his last three outings. He allowed one hit in closing out the ninth against Alexandria. Timoney dropped his ERA to 2.94 and has struck out 15 in 15 1/3 innings.
