WILMINGTON, N.C. -
This is the first in a series of summer baseball reports on the Seahawks who
have scattered around the country, playing in leagues and getting the at-bats
and innings pitched they'll need to prepare them for the 2011 season.
Coastal Plain League
Hunter Ridge
(Asheboro) - After getting a late start on his summer playing, Ridge has
picked up where he left off with the Seahawks, hitting at a .414 clip with a
double, two homers and three runs batted in.
Brian Rhino
(Asheboro) - Rhino has made three appearances and fanned four batters over
the course of three innings and has yet to allow a hit.
Cameron Cockman
(Asheboro) - Cockman enters this weekend hitting .235, but is tied for the
club lead with five runs batted in.
Ryan Leach (Wilmington)
- Leach, who sat out the 2010 season after transferring into the program,
hasn't recorded a decision in two starts, but has fashioned a 0.84 earned run
average. Leach has totaled 10 strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings pitched for the
Seahawks.
Blaze Tart
(Wilmington) - Tart has walked one and struck out one in his only outing to
date, a two-inning stint.
Justin Bradley
(Wilmington) - Bradley has made two appearances, including one start for
the Sharks. In five innings he allowed two runs on four hits.
KIT League (Kentucky-Illinois-Tennessee)
Michael Bass (Fulton)
- Bass has been a terror on the base paths in the early going, swiping a
league-leading 10 bases in eight games. Bass is hitting .250 and has scored 10
runs while connecting on four doubles.
Dakota Piver (Fulton)
- Piver has started all eight games for the Railroaders and is hitting
.107.
Hamptons Collegiate
League
Jack Lane (Riverhead)
- Lane was the Tomcats opening day starter and he responded with four
innings of shutout baseball. Lane struck out three and walked three.
Thomas Jones
(Riverhead) - Jones ran into a hot-hitting Southampton team in his first
start, allowing five runs in three innings.
New England
Collegiate Baseball League
Steven Davis
(Vermont) - Davis has made two appearances to-date. In 3 2/3 innings, he's
been tagged for seven hits and seven walks while striking out six. His ERA
stands at 9.54.
Thomas Pope (Vermont)
- Pope, like Ridge, has started strong out of the game for the
Mountaineers, hitting .286 with a team-leading three doubles and six RBI.
Tyler DeLoach (North
Adams) - DeLoach has posted a 3.60 ERA through two appearances, including a
start on June 10. In that start, DeLoach went four innings and allowed two runs
on two hits and three walks. He struck out four in a strong effort.
Ryan Walker (Laconia)
- In three appearances, Walker has allowed two runs, one earned, struck out
two while giving up four hits.
