WILMINGTON, N.C. -
It's back to business for UNCW on Thursday when the Seahawks take on the
top-seeded Dukes of James Madison at Brooks Field, in the second game of the
Colonial Athletic Association tournament with first-pitch slated for 7 p.m.
The Seahawks will be the fourth seed and send second-team
All-CAA selection Cameron Roth to the mound after he paced the staff with a 7-4
mark and a 3.15 earned run average. UNCW dropped 2-of-3 during the regular season
series at JMU, with both setbacks being one-run affairs. Roth picked up UNCW
lone win of that weekend, combining with senior Seth Frankoff to two-hit the
Dukes for a 6-0 win.
JMU will send Turner Phelps to the mound as its starter. The
top-seed Dukes fashioned an 18-6 record during the regular season and captured
the regular season title after taking 2-of-3 at VCU last weekend.
The winner of the Seahawks/Dukes game will play at 3:30 p.m.
on Friday against the winner of the Georgia State/VCU game, which will open the
tournament on Thursday at 3 p.m. The losers of the first two games will face
off in an elimination game on Friday at noon.
