MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -
Senior Christina Borowiec won the 10,000 meter run while the men's 4x800 relay
also posted a first-place finish to lead UNCW on Friday at the Coastal Carolina
Shamrock Invitational at Doug Shaw Stadium.
Borowiec topped the field in the 10,000 meters with a time
of 38.14.90, ranking 10th all-time at UNCW and was a personal best for her.
The 4x800 relay of freshman Max Mittelman, junior Remy Tamer, sophomores Bob Vanderham and Wil Zahorodny clocked in with a winning
time of 7:37.91.
In other events, junior Lily Patterson set a school-record
in the 3,000 meter Steeplechase when she finished seventh after completing the
run in a time of 11:34.57. Erin Brennan, meanwhile, finished right behind
Patterson with a time of 11:34.80, the second fastest time in UNCW history. The
original record of 11:44.23 was set by Tamika Newsome in 2002.
Kelly Carmichael, a sophomore, added a second-place finish for
UNCW in the Men's Steeplechase with a time of 9:42.12, eight all-time for the
Seahawks.
Senior Jordan Peacock completed the Decathlon on Friday and
placed third with 5,755 points, a new personal record and sixth all-time in the
UNCW record books.
Rounding out UNCW's top three finishers for the day was the
men's 4x200 relay of freshmen Jeremy Johnson, Jordan Reed and Kadeem Harmon and
junior Justin Prevette that finished third after posting a time of 1:26.44.
