Women Lead Seahawk Invite

WILMINGTON, N.C. - A pair of wins in the Long Jump and 5,000 meters has put UNC Wilmington in first on the women's side and second on the men's after an abbreviated opening day of the Seahawk Invitational at the Greene Track and Field Complex.

In the 5,000 meters, UNCW picked up first-place finishes by Bernadette O'Neill and Kelly Carmichael in the men's race. O'Neill fashioned a time of 18:12.35 while Carmichael clocked in at 15:25.43.

In the Long Jump, both Shanelle Foster and Justin Prevette used season-best performances to pick up 10 points apiece for the Seahawks. Foster jumped 19-1 1/2 while Prevette jumped 23-9 1/2.

The meet concludes on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. Admission is free.
