WILMINGTON, N.C. -
One week after finishing third at the Seahawk Invitational, UNC Wilmington
returns to the course on Monday when it participates in the Palmetto
Intercollegiate in Aiken, S.C.
Josh Brock, who already has had success at the Palmetto
Intercollegiate after finishing third in 2009, will look to build up on a solid
start to the spring schedule. Brock finished in a tie for third in the spring
opener after recording a pair of one-under scores of 71 in the two rounds at
the Nicklaus Course at Landfall.
Freshman Stefan Brewer also got out of the gate early with a
sixth-place finish at the Seahawk Intercollegiate. For Brewer, it was his
second career top-10 finish.
Senior Derek Wallace narrowly missed out on his 10th career
top-10 finish when he finished two-over and in a tie for 11th overall last
week.
Rounding out the Seahawks lineup for the Palmetto
Intercollegiate are junior Michael Taylor and Ryan Sullivan. Both finished in a
tie for 28th.
The three-round tournament will be played at the Palmetto
Golf Course a par 70, 6617 yard tract that has hosted this tournament for the
last 12 years. This year's edition includes 19th-ranked Clemson and 20th-ranked
Virginia.
The tournament begins on Monday with two rounds, followed by
a single round on Tuesday.
