UNIVERSITY
PARK, Pa. - Wil Zahorodny set a school record in the 800 meters to lead UNC Wilmington on
Saturday at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup at the Horace Ashenfelter Track.
The men scored 34 points to
finish in a tie with Coastal Carolina for eighth place. The women, meanwhile,
were 14th.
Zahorodny
gave the Seahawks five points with his fourth-place finish in the 800 meters.
His time of 1:52.91 beat the previous record time of 1:54.69, set by Paul Chokota in 2002.
Prevette, who won the Long
Jump one day earlier, fashioned a third-place time of 21.95 seconds.
In the men's 600 meters,
junior Nick Pederzolli and sophomore Chris Letson finished seventh and eighth,
respectively with times of 1:22.07 and 1:22.11.
In relay action, the
Seahawks 4x400 relay of Letson, senior Devon Watlington, freshman Connor Brooks
and Pederzolli took third with a time of 3:17.22.
For the Seahawk women,
senior Lauren Donaldson and junior Taylor Holt scored for UNCW in the 600 meters,
combining for four points. Donaldson (1:37.61) placed sixth while Holt
(1:39.03) was eighth.
The Seahawks will next
compete on Feb. 12, when they visit Chapel
Hill, N.C., for the
UNC Invitational.
