WILMINGTON, N.C. - On the heels of its most successful season in the program's history, UNC Wilmington finished the 2009 season nationally-ranked in all four polls, finishing as high as 18th in both the Collegesoccernews.com and Soccer America rankings.

The Seahawks fashioned a 14-3-5 mark overall and reached the second round of the NCAA College Cup where they bowed out in a 2-1 setback to Cup semifinalist Wake Forest.

UNCW was also ranked 22nd in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and 27th in the Soccer Times polls.

UNCW captured its second consecutive Colonial Athletic Association regular season title after completing the 11-game ledger with an 8-0-3 mark. The Seahawks then recorded a pair of clean sheets in the CAA championship tournament against Old Dominion and Northeastern to earn the league's automatic bid to the College Cup.

Heading into the 2010 season, the Seahawks return nine starters, including third-team All-America selection defender Indy Smith as well as NSCAA All-South regional goalkeeper Brock Duckworth. Offensively, two-time CAA Coach-of-the-Year Aidan Heaney welcomes back 14-of-15 players who notched a point in 2009, including leading goal scorers Tyler Wheaton, Shawn Guderian and Etienne Boulanger. Playmakers Christian Davidson, who led the team with six assists, Daniel Roberts (five assists) and Tyler Clare (five assists) will also return to the mix.
