WILMINGTON, N.C. -
Head Coach Dave Allen and his UNC Wilmington swimming and diving teams return
to the pool this evening in a Colonial Athletic Association pod meet with
George Mason, Towson and host Delaware.
The both Seahawk squads carry winning streaks into this
weekend with the women (4-1, 1-0 CAA) having won their last four and the men (3-1,
1-0 CAA) three. Last weekend, UNCW swept visiting Emory and Houston on the
women's side while the men topped Emory.
With the wins also came conference honors as senior Caitlin Kirsteier and Rob Anderson were named CAA Swimmers-of-the-Week. Kirsteier broke
her own pool record in the 100 Butterfly and also helped the 200 Medley and 400
Freestyle relays set pool records. Anderson, meanwhile, won a pair of
individual events and swam on a pair of first-place relays.
Joining the Seahawks at the pod meet is defending conference
women's champion Towson, who is off to a fast 4-0 start after sweeping a
non-conference tri-meet at East Carolina. On the men's side, UNCW will take
faceoff against Delaware, who finished third at the CAA Championships. The
Seahawk men already own a win over runner-up Old Dominion this season.
The meet opens with the first session this evening at 5 p.m.
and will conclude on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.
The Seahawks return to the Seahawk Natatorium on Nov. 14,
when they host long-time rival College of Charleston.
