CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The UNC Wilmington men's tennis team closed out its appearance at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Carolinas Regional with four losses Saturday at UNC Chapel Hill's Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
"It wasn't a great weekend for us, but we got to see a lot of great competition," said Coach Mait DuBois. "It was still good experience for our players. We got a lot of good looks at top 10 teams."
Junior Illia Ziamtsou was the lone Seahawk to push his match into three sets. The Mogilev, Belarus, product fell to eight-seeded Orcun Seyrek of UNC Greensboro, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
In other matches involving Seahawk players, freshman Chris Cooprider suffered a 6-4, 6-3 setback to Appalachian State's Alain Humblet, junior Michael Pereira dropped a 6-1, 7-5 verdict to UNC Chapel Hill's Luke Mojica and freshman Kosta Blank was ousted, 6-2, 6-2, by Duke's Dylan Arnould.
The Seahawks return home to host the UNCW Invitational next weekend, Oct. 23-25.
