JONESBORO, TENN. - Junior Josh Brock
recorded his best round of the fall at three-under-par to put him in fourth place
at the Bank of Tennessee at the Ridges tournament at the Ridges Golf and
Country Club on Friday. The Seahawks are in a log-jam with five other teams for
fourth place.
Oregon State, ranked 13th by Golfstat.com, leads the 15-team even by one
stroke over 21st-ranked Tennessee and Missouri. The field features 10 teams in
Golfstat.com's top 50 rankings.
OSU's Diego Velasquez carded a six-under 66 to take the early.
Brock (34-35=69) enters the second round just three shots off the pace
after making five birdies in his round.
Junior Ryan Sullivan (36-35=71), meanwhile, also opened the tournament
with a solid round and is tied for eight overall after a one-under round of 71.
Sullivan entered the final six holes one-over, but rallied with back-to-back
birdies on the 13th and 14th holes to get under par.
Freshman Stefan Brewer (36-39=75) and sophomore Taylor Zimmerman (39-36=75)
are tied for 40th while senior Derek Wallace (38-40=78) is in a tie for 70th
after finishing six-over.
Wallace will open the second round for the Seahawks when he tees off at
10:10 a.m. on Saturday.
