DAUFUSKIE, S.C. - Ryan Sullivan tied a tournament record with a season-low four-under-par
68 in the second round to lead UNC Wilmington after two rounds at the Rees
Jones Invitational at Haig Point. The Seahawks are tied for fourth, but the
second round was not completed due to darkness and wet course conditions
throughout the day.
Sullivan,
a junior, and South Carolina's
Paul Woodbury, who also fashioned a second round 68, broke the previous tournament
record of 69 set last November. Woodbury holds the tournament lead by three
strokes over teammate George Bryan IV. Sullivan (81-68=149) is 10th
overall.
South Carolina, ranked
24th by Golfstat.com, leads the 12-team field after two rounds at four-over.
UNCW, who is ranked 40th, is tied with 38th-ranked Pepperdine at 32-over. Five
teams will complete their second round on Tuesday morning.
UNCW
senior Derek Wallace (78-72=150) is bidding for his fourth top-10 finish of the
fall, entering the final round in a tie for 11th at six-over. Wallace opened
the tournament with a six-over 78, but recorded an even-par round to close out
his day.
Junior
Josh Brock (79-75=154) is tied for 26th, while sophomore Taylor Zimmerman
(78-77=155) and freshman Stefan Brewer (81-80=161) are 28th and tied for 46th,
respectively.
A pair of
Seahawks are also in action with freshman Thomas Bass and junior Michael Taylor
are competing as individuals at the Gordin-Myers Collegiate Classic in the Duke
Golf Club in Durham, N.C. Bass (77-78=156), making his collegiate debut, is
tied for 22nd overall at 11-over through two rounds. Taylor (79-80=159), meanwhile, is tied for
42nd overall at 15-over.
